The creative process looks different for everyone.
In this episode, I was joined by my friend and former coworker Kobe Bohr, who currently works with Rudy Gobert and the Big Ten Network as a Multiplatform Producer. Before that, Kobe and I worked together at Gopher Digital Productions as Creative Video Producers.
We talked about how storytelling is the most authentic and powerful part of video production—the idea of affect over effect. Our conversation focused on finding the balance between highlights and emotion, and what it means to stand out in such a saturated creative field. You can recreate effects, but you can’t replicate a story that truly impacts and connects.
That’s what makes this work so meaningful: telling stories that resonate, that make people feel something. Sports are emotional, and we get to share that emotion—showing viewers the most authentic side of the experience.
“I enjoy telling stories. That’s what wakes you up in the morning as a creative.”
- Kobe Bohr
